Management Systems
TCR runs an integrated health, safety, and environment management system aligned with ISO 45001 for occupational health and safety and ISO 14001 for environmental management, built on the statutory base of the Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions Code 2020, the Atomic Energy (Radiation Protection) Rules 2004, and the AERB licensing regime.
The work carries real hazards, ionising radiation, hazardous chemicals, high-pressure systems, moving machinery, hot surfaces, and field environments that run from refineries to bridges to underground tanks, so the system is written to control them rather than to paper over them. The policy framework sits in the company manual; the detailed operational protocols, PPE matrices, and method-level controls are maintained in a controlled TCR Safety Manual owned by the HSE function.

Radiation Safety Regime
The radiography practice is governed by the Atomic Energy Regulatory Board (AERB) framework. Two AERB-approved Source Storage Facilities, two named Radiation Safety Officers, an AERB Operation Licence in the name of the Chairperson and Managing Director, and the BARC Level-1 field certifications anchor the regime.

Site Safety Programme
Field and laboratory work runs to a single safety programme, applied the same way on a client site as in the home laboratory.
PPE and safe work
PPE is mandatory in PPE zones without exception, against a role-and-zone matrix posted at each zone entrance.
Permit to work
Energy isolation, hot work, and confined-space entry run under formal permit-to-work systems, with documented isolation, gas testing, attendant cover, and emergency response. Bypassing an interlock, working without a permit, or skipping gas testing is treated as a major breach. Hazardous chemicals are stored, handled, and disposed of to their safety data sheets and the ISO 14001 framework, with spills reported and cleaned up under procedure.
Fitness for duty, drugs, and alcohol
TCR holds a zero-tolerance line on alcohol and drug impairment at work, with the highest scrutiny on safety-critical roles, drivers, radiography technicians, and chemists handling hazardous material. Fitness for duty is checked at the start of each shift, breath analysers are held at every location, and safety-critical roles are subject to random monthly checks. An Employee Assistance Programme provides confidential counselling and de-addiction support, and an employee who comes forward for help before any incident is treated as seeking help, not as a misconduct case.
Accident and near-miss reporting
In line with Sections 10 to 12 of the OSH&WC Code, the prescribed authorities are notified of any accident causing death or serious injury, any dangerous occurrence, and any notifiable occupational disease. Every employee is required to report accidents, near-misses, and unsafe conditions promptly, and concealing an accident or near-miss is itself treated as misconduct, because it endangers the next person and corrupts the safety record.
Safety committee and occupational health
A Safety Committee with both employer and worker representation sits at each location, meets monthly, and reviews accident and near-miss reports, PPE compliance, and the TLD radiation record. Every employee takes a pre-employment medical appropriate to the role, vision and colour vision for inspection work, audiometry for high-noise areas, lung function for dust exposure, and a free annual health check is provided to all employees aged 40 and above and to everyone engaged in hazardous processes regardless of age.
Mental health and wellbeing
Mental health is treated as health. The same Employee Assistance Programme provides confidential counselling for stress, anxiety, and personal difficulty, managers are trained to recognise distress and direct people to support, and a mental-health concern is handled with the same straightforwardness as a physical injury.

Equipment Certification and Calibration
The 300+ instruments across the group are maintained on a calibration calendar managed through the QMS (Quality & Approvals). The radiography sources are leak-certified through BARC. The storage tank robotic crawler fleet operating in classified zones (refinery and petrochemical sites with ATEX zoning) carries ATEX / PESO certification for the robotic tank inspection rover.
Environmental Management
ISO 14001:2015 framework. Hazardous-waste handling for laboratory chemical disposal (etchants, polishing media, corrosion-test solutions, oil samples, paint and coating samples) follows the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB), Gujarat Pollution Control Board (GPCB), and Odisha Pollution Control Board (OSPCB) frameworks for the respective sites. Effluent and emission monitoring runs against the State Pollution Control Board consents at each operating site.
HSE Performance Discipline
The discipline runs at three levels.
Compliance level. Every regulatory licence (AERB, BIS, IBR, MoEF&CC, State Pollution Control Boards, BMC, CIDCO, NABL, NABCB) is current and the renewal calendar is managed centrally. The audit cadence (Quality & Approvals) catches expiry windows three months ahead of lapse.
Operational level. Every site engagement carries a documented HSE plan, a permit-to-work cycle, a workman-compensation insurance pack, and a daily toolbox talk. Field-crew supervisors carry stop-work authority.
Cultural level. The senior bench is named, accessible, and reachable for HSE escalation. The Quality Assurance Head (Dr. Ajay Essampally) and the AERB Radiation Safety Officers (Shemi K B, Ananta Kishore Parida) are the formal escalation points.
