The work is organised in five stages, a model TCR has built and refined over five decades of plant inspection rather than borrowed from an industry template.

  1. Sourcing and procurement. Factory audits, OEM qualification, raw-material inspection, sample picking, in-production checks, and loading supervision, supported by mechanical testing, fatigue, chemical, and corrosion testing on procurement samples.
  2. Construction and commissioning. Baseline NDT, phased-array and time-of-flight diffraction, radiography with robotic crawlers, welder certification, weldability and consumable evaluation, post-weld heat treatment, positive material identification, and the baseline data set that every later inspection is measured against.
  3. In-service. Online advanced NDT for high-temperature hydrogen attack, carburisation, hydrogen-induced cracking, high-temperature corrosion mapping, and mid-wall fissuring, with thermography, robotic tools, remote visual inspection, and risk-based inspection planning per API RP 580.
  4. Shutdown and turnaround. Pipeline and weld inspection, tube and heat-exchanger inspection, in-situ metallographic replica, tank inspection including in-service robotic crawling, boiler condition assessment, robotic reformer tube inspection, and turnaround inspection manpower.
  5. Continuum. The forward-looking stage: failure analysis per API 585, remaining-life assessment, fitness-for-service per API 579-1/ASME FFS-1, fire-damage assessment, integrity operating windows per API RP 584, engineering design and analysis, and the contract research that feeds the next procurement cycle.

The value is in the joins between the stages. A replica taken at a turnaround, a baseline set at commissioning, and a failure file from an earlier outage all sit in one 53-year database under one signature. A plant owner does not brief a new vendor at each stage, because the same laboratory already holds the asset’s history.
